What is a Virtual Carrier?

As a virtual carrier, we do not own a fleet of trucks managed out of a physical location. Owner-operators can lease on to our authority as contractors, and we provide the technology, operational support and partnerships they need to start, operate and expand their trucking businesses.

How does Virtual Carrier differ from a traditional carrier?

Virtual Carrier gives you the freedom to manage your trucking business and operations the way you want to – you can make your own schedule, book your own loads, manage your own maintenance, etc. A traditional carrier that owns and operates its own fleet typically manages all of those operations.

What do I need to get started?

To lease onto our authority, you need to be 23–69 years old, have had a CDL A License for 1 year, and hold a clean driving record. If you have your own truck and trailer, that’s great! If not, you will need to purchase or rent one. We have partnerships to help you get set up with equipment.

How do I get started with CloudTrucks Virtual Carrier?

Fill out our short application and we'll reach out to you to help you get set up. Once your application is approved, our onboarding team will help you download our app and start scheduling loads.

Does CloudTrucks provide drivers with equipment?

No, CloudTrucks does not own its own trucks. However, CloudTrucks partners with major truck leasing companies to provide lease-to-own options for equipment.

Does CloudTrucks include insurance?

Yes, CloudTrucks includes auto liability and cargo insurance in our lease-on fee.

What if I have my own federal authority?

If you already have your own federal authority (DOT and MC numbers), you will need to either put your authority on hold or revoke it with FMCSA before you can lease onto CloudTrucks.

How can I access the CT Fuel card?

All CloudTrucks Virtual Carrier fleets receive a fuel card through CT Fuel. To be eligible, you must be leased onto CloudTrucks' authority.

Are there any fees associated with CT Fuel?

There are no application or monthly fees for CT Fuel. We do, however, charge late fees for missed payments. Late fees are charged 4 days after the statement due date and are equal to 10% of the overdue balance.

What is the statement period for CT Fuel and how do payments work?

The statement periods are weekly. Statement periods start on Monday at 12:00am Pacific Standard Time and end on Sunday at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time.

At the end of every job, we will either pay off your outstanding balance or up to 50% of the gross job amount, whichever is less. This will ensure you always have take-home pay even if you have a high fuel bill. The remaining balance will be paid off in future jobs or at the end of the statement period.

You can also pay off your card at any time by initiating a payment from your CT Cash balance or your bank account.
